STAR SPANGLED BANNER O say can you see by the dawn's early light What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight O'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

LUNATIC FRINGE Lunatic fringe, I know you're out thereyou're in hiding and you hold your meetings but I can hear you coming and I know what you're after we're wise to you this time we won't let you kill the laughter Lunatic fringe in the twilight's last gleaming this is open season but you won't get too far 'cause you've got to blame someone for your own confusion and we're on guard this time against your final solution We can hear you coming No, you're not going to win this time We can hear the footsteps Way out along the walkway Lunatic fringe We all know you're out there Can you feel the resistance? Can you feel the thunder?

SNAKE OIL SALESMAN I roll into your town with a flourish and fanfare In my sharp suit, run my hand through my well-coiffed hair Flashing my pearly whites, taking my time, As I get a good feel for the crowd I’ve got snake oil and sugar pills, powders and potions I’ve slapped fancy labels on generic hand lotions Yet, shiny gold cases display all my wares Well, it’s really cheap spray paint, they can’t tell so who cares I’ve got a soap box, I will put on a show I know the people, my people, will gather ‘round I will tell them what they want to hear Confirm all their fearso they will stay, I know they’ll stay and throw their money down They buy my snake oil and sugar pills My sales pitch will give them chills I’ll take their dough and watch them choke ‘Cause when I’m gone they’ll still be broke It’s a skill I have honed, years of patience and practice I can read them, I’m an artist of artifice Gaining their confidence, gauging their weakness I convince them, only I have the cure I will put up some mirrors and make me some smoke A little dazzle for the desperate congregation Then I shake my fist, use my fame, Give them someone else to blame Praise the Lord, I’m the king of manipulation They buy my snake oil and sugar pills My sales pitch will give them chills I’ll take their dough and watch them choke ‘Cause when I’m gone they’ll still be broke They buy my snake oil and sugar pills My sales pitch even gives me chills! I’ll take their dough, what a joke I am the only one who will not be broke! Let me take that off yours hands…

I'M GONNA START I’ve got to stop reading the news Giving me nothing but blues And it’s making me scared out of my mind I’ve got to stop reading the web Giving me a messed up head And I can’t believe the things that I find I’m gonna walk into a park Count the stars when it gets dark Pull the ones that I love tight in my arms I’m gonna start I’ve got to stop watching TV Cause I know it’s bad for me And it’s giving me a hole in my heart I’m turning off the radio Cause I’ve got somewhere to go Where the music has some room to start I’m gonna walk into a park Count the stars when it gets dark Pull the ones that I love tight in my arms I’m gonna sing to my own beat Gonna dance right down the street Gonna ring the bells and sound the alarms I’m gonna start I’ll raise my voice Cause I’ve got my choice They don’t dictate what’s in my heart And when I walk out That’s the loudest kind of shout And the change I need is gonna start I’m gonna walk into a park Count the stars when it gets dark Pull the ones that I love tight in my arms I’m gonna sing to my own beat Gonna dance right down the street Gonna ring the bells and sound the alarms I’m gonna start

GIRLS LIKE ME What if you don’t remember? Only the waking up the morning after? Your shirt on the floor Lipstick smeared What if you don’t remember how you got there? These things don’t happen to girls like me These things don’t happen to girls like me Always behaving so very carefully I only had one drink, I know what you think I know what you think What if you only remember The getting ready, how you chose what you wore Favorite jeans, the houndstooth bag Heels not boots Would anyone believe the truth? These things don’t happen to girls like me These things don’t happen to girls like me Always behaving so very carefully I only had one drink, I know what you think I know what you think Should I tell Who could I tell What could I say…anyway… It’s easier not to remember Just get out of there the morning after You make your way home No one has to know You threw out your favorite clothes These things don’t happen to girls like me These things don’t happen to girls like me Always behaving so very carefully I only had one drink, I know what you think I know what you think These things don’t happen to girls like me

LADY IN WAITING Bring me your tired Bring me your poor Bring me your bruised, your invisible, and your ignored Bring me your hopeful Bring me your scared Bring me your brilliant young minds and your underprepared Bring me your lonely Bring me your blessed Bring me your desperate, your overworked, and underdressed Bring me your rabbis Bring me your nuns Bring me your fathers in search of their daughters and sons I am still here and I am waiting My flame is pale and thin But I will let you in Soon Bring me your feeble Bring me your strong Bring me your poets and painters and workers-in-song Bring me your teachers Bring me your guides Bring me your healers of hearts and your turners of tides I am still here and I am waiting My flame is pale and thin But I will let you in Soon Come to me. I hear you calling Winds are shifting, walls are falling I am still here and I am waiting My flame is pale and thin Its light is growing dim But it still burns Right by the door Come to me again I will let you in Soon

about

ALL PROCEEDS FOR THIS ALBUM WILL BE DONATED TO THE ACLU!

Chicks With Dip are an informal collective of songwriting women who enjoy mutual respect and the pleasure of each other’s company around good conversation, good songs, and good dip. The Chicks have been gathering in friendship and professional support for nearly two decades.

The Chicks' expansive and resoundingly successful tour celebrating the 40th anniversary of Joni Mitchell’s BLUE in 2012-2014, began with humble roots at a fundraiser for one NYC coffeehouse. That tour clearly demonstrated their collaborative power. A global pandemic and all the societal flaws it exposed has inspired these accomplished women to publicly join forces again in a substantial way.

In May 2020, Chicks With Dip collaborated on a remotely-recorded video of "What a Wonderful World” (mixed and edited by Chicks member Katherine Etzel). Though delighted by the positive response to their gentle take on an American classic, they were eager to dig deeper, feeling called to even more meaningful action in an environment that felt increasingly unstable.

As our divided nation faces perhaps the most consequential election season in living memory, Chicks With Dip have combined their skills once again to release a new collection, “Stomping on Eggshells.” The eight songs featured on "Stomping on Eggshells" comment on multiple aspects of the current socio-political climate. Chicks With Dip believe music is a strong and potent healer with the power to rise against injustice, stand for what is right, and inspire positive change.

Don’t sit this one out. Make your voice heard. VOTE!
