When Dr. Christine Blasey Ford testified that would-be Justice Brett Kavanaugh had participated in a sexual assault against her, skeptics wondered why she had not reported the incident decades earlier. In supportive reply, millions of women flooded social media with their own #metoo stories, highlighting the sad commonality of such experiences. Thus, Meg Braun’s “Girls Like Me” was born. Women, no matter how careful, are still not safe, and our culture still finds ways to blame the victim. The more we tell our stories, however, the more we can unite to end sexual violence… even if some of the perpetrators hold the highest offices in our country.
